Risk Management of COVID-19 on NZOIA Courses - Alert Level 1

NZOIA will work within the Government guidelines to protect the health, safety and well-being of all Assessors and participants on NZOIA training, revalidation and assessment courses. 

We all have a role in slowing the progression of COVID-19 in Aotearoa.

Our current measures to reduce the risk to all persons on NZOIA courses include:

·        If you are sick – stay at home:  If you are running or attending an NZOIA course and are experiencing a new or worsening cough, a fever of least 38 degrees Celsius, shortness of breath, sore throat, sneezing and runny nose and/or temporary loss of smell or are awaiting COVID-19 test results, or have been in close contact with someone confirmed with COVID-19 please:

-   Phone Healthline on the dedicated COVID-19 number at 0800 358 5453 or phone ahead to your general practice to be advised on what to do. 

·         Hygiene and Sanitation: 

-   Sanitise your hands regularly in absence of hand washing facilitates (e.g. before the activity begins, before gear exchange, throughout the activity and after the activity is completed). Sanitiser will be available on all courses, but please bring your own individual bottle for ease of distribution. 

-   Where practicable, keep a safe distance from people you don’t know.

-   Face coverings help keep you and others safe. We encourage you to use these if travelling to the course on public transport, or if there is little or no physical distancing between you and people you don’t know.

-   Protocols will be briefed at the beginning of the course:

§  Cough or sneeze into the elbow or cover your mouth and nose with tissues, placing any used tissues into a bag immediately

§  Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

·         Contact Tracing:  NZOIA will have all the contacts of Assessors and participants on file.

·         Isolation:  Any person who presents COVID-19 symptoms during the course will be isolated and assisted to leave.  The participant will be encouraged to have a COVID-19 check. 

We will continue to update our procedures and follow the guidance from the Ministry of Health and encourage you to do so too.
